About the event
Set in the Prohibition era of Chicago and Miami, the story follows two unemployed musicians, Joe (a saxophonist) and Jerry (a bassist). After witnessing a mob hit (the "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" style shooting), they need to escape town to avoid being murdered by the gangsters led by Spats Palazzo.
Their only option is to disguise themselves as women, "Josephine" and "Daphne," and join an all-female band, "Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopaters," which is leaving for an engagement at a hotel in Miami Beach. Complications arise when Joe, as Josephine, falls for the band's beautiful lead singer, Sugar Kane. Meanwhile, wealthy elderly Osgood Fielding Jr. pursues Jerry, who is in drag as Daphne.
